Generate an article
The three ways to generate an article, the 8 steps it goes through, how long it takes, what it costs and what stops it.
An article gets written one of three ways — automatically, from a day on your calendar, or on demand for any topic you type in.
Three ways to start one
- Autopilot. With Brand DNA → Autopilot → Generate articles automatically on, Clodix picks up each topic on your calendar once its date arrives and writes it without you clicking anything. See Autopilot.
- Generate Now, from the calendar. Open a Planned day and click Generate Now to write that one topic right away, whatever the date says.
- New article, from the top bar. Click New article, type a topic or keyword, and Clodix researches and writes it from scratch — useful for a topic that isn't on your calendar at all.
What happens while it writes
Generating an article takes it through 8 steps, shown live on the calendar day (or under New article once it's queued):
- Researching the topic — gathers facts, sources and what's already ranking for it.
- Building the outline — decides the title and the sections.
- Writing the article — drafts the full body.
- Making it sound human — rewrites it to read naturally rather than like an obvious first draft.
- Checking uniqueness — compares the result against your own site's other articles.
- Creating the cover — generates the featured image, if Generate images for my articles is on.
- Drafting social posts — writes draft posts for your connected channels.
- Scoring SEO — runs the 8 SEO checks and saves the final score.
A first article on a brand-new topic cluster also spends a little extra time up front researching that cluster — you'll see that as part of step 1.
How long it takes
A few minutes, not hours. While you're watching the progress on the calendar, every check-in also nudges the job forward, so it finishes faster than it would sitting in the background. If you close the tab, the article keeps writing and shows up in Articles once it's done.
What it costs
One article — research, writing, the uniqueness check, the cover and social post drafts — is 1,000 credits, charged once the job starts. See Credits for your balance and allowance.
- The charge happens once, not per attempt — a failed step is retried automatically and never bills you twice.
- If the article ultimately fails after every retry, your credits are refunded in full. See An article failed.
Limits
- Up to 12 articles per account per hour, shared between autopilot and manual generation. Past that, generating waits for the next hour.
- A duplicate topic is never generated. If a topic is too close to an article you already have, Clodix tells you which one and skips writing a second, competing article on the same subject.
How long and how it's structured
An article runs roughly 1,300–2,000 words, organized into a handful of H2/H3 sections (no H1 — the title is separate). It's written mostly in prose, with lists only where the content genuinely needs them, and includes at least two links to your own pages and one link to an outside source. The title and meta description are sized to fit search results without being cut off, and the focus keyword runs through the title, body and meta description.
