Publish an article
Publish and Unpublish, auto-publish on the planned day and its retries, Mark as published, IndexNow, and publishing without an integration.
An article goes live either because you click Publish, or because autopilot publishes it for you on its planned day.
Publish, by hand
Open the article and click Publish. The button reads Publishing… while it's pushing the article to your site, and Publish failed with the reason underneath if your site refused it — see Publishing problems.
Once it succeeds, the status flips to Published and a View live ↗ link appears so you can check it on your site.
Auto-publish on the planned day
Turn on Brand DNA → Autopilot → Publish articles automatically and a finished article publishes itself on its planned calendar day — no review step. It needs a connected publishing integration; without one, the article stays a draft instead of queuing for a publish nobody can perform.
If your site refuses the publish temporarily (a timeout, a server error), Clodix tries again automatically — about one, three and six hours later, four tries in total across roughly ten hours. These retries cost no extra credits; the article is already written, only the push repeats.
If every retry is spent, the article falls back to Draft and the editor shows Auto-publish didn't go through, quoting what your site answered. Fix the connection in Settings → Publishing integrations, then press Publish yourself.
Unpublish
Click Unpublish to take an article off your site without deleting it — it goes back to a draft you can edit and publish again later. What happens on your platform depends on it:
| Platform | What Unpublish does there |
|---|---|
| WordPress, Ghost, Shopify, HubSpot | Reverts the post to a draft on the platform too. |
| Wix | Moves the post to the trash (Wix's only reversible takedown). |
| Everything else | Only the status in Clodix changes — nothing is removed from your site. |
Mark as published
If you published an article by hand — pasted it into a site Clodix doesn't push to directly — paste the link to that page under Export → Mark as published in the editor. The link must point to a page that's actually live on your site.
This doesn't publish anything by itself; it tells Clodix the article is live so later articles can link to it, and so it counts correctly against your analytics and Search Console data.
IndexNow
Every time an article publishes — by hand, by autopilot, or marked as published by you — Clodix pings IndexNow in the background to nudge search engines toward indexing it sooner. It never blocks or delays the publish itself.
Publishing without an integration
With no publishing integration connected, Publish isn't available. Use Export to copy the article (with formatting, as Markdown, or as HTML), paste it into your site yourself, then use Mark as published so it's properly counted.
