Troubleshooting

Article quality problems

What to do when articles miss your business, repeat each other, score low, lack a cover or need links to your products — by symptom.

Find the symptom you're seeing below. Every fix here is something you can do yourself.

"The articles don't sound like my business"

Almost always this traces back to Brand DNA. Clodix writes it by reading your site; if your site has little text, the description comes out generic, and your keywords, your calendar and every article inherit that.

  1. Open Brand DNA and edit What you do and Audience by hand. A few precise sentences change the output more than anything else in the product.
  2. Check Key themes and Topics to avoid in the Content block.
  3. Check Language at the top — see Setup didn't finish if your plan came out in the wrong one.
  4. Generate one new article and see if it reads closer. Brand DNA only affects articles written from now on — fix articles that are already written in the editor.

If the setup misread your whole niche, Re-analyze site crawls it again from scratch (it overwrites your current brand profile).

"A word I told it to avoid is still in a title"

Saving Topics to avoid rewrites your planned calendar topics so they follow the new rule, and each article checks the rule again when it starts. After saving, the screen tells you how many topics changed. Articles that were already written, or already in progress, aren't touched — edit their title in the editor.

"My SEO score is low — how do I raise it?"

Open the article, then click any check in the SEO Score panel: it opens a hint saying what's wrong for that article and how to fix it. The score recalculates as soon as you save. The checks that most often pull it down:

CheckUsual causeFix
KeywordThe focus keyword (the article's topic) is no longer in the title — often because the title was edited.Put the keyword phrase back in the title.
Meta DescriptionOutside 50–155 characters, or missing the keyword.Rewrite it in SEO Settings to fit and include the keyword.
LinksNo outside source linked.Add one link to a reputable external page (and at least two links to your own pages).
Featured ImageNo cover.Add one — see "My article has no cover image" below.

Every topic in your calendar is a real search phrase, and the article is built around it. If you rewrite a title and drop that phrase, the Keyword check fails. To steer topics instead, use Topics to avoid in Brand DNA rather than editing titles. The full list of checks is in SEO score and originality.

If the article is already live on your site, press Update on site after saving so the fix reaches it (see Edit an article).

"My article has no cover image"

A cover can come from three places:

  • With the draft, when Generate images for my articles is on in Brand DNA → Images.
  • Before auto-publish, for an article that reaches its publish day without one.
  • By hand, from the editor: Add cover · free next to Publish, or SEO Settings → Featured image → Generate / Regenerate. The first cover on an article is free; regenerating an existing one costs 200 credits.

When you publish by hand, a missing cover isn't drawn for you at that moment — so if your new drafts have no cover and you publish them yourself, turn Generate images for my articles on, or click Add cover · free before Publish.

A cover is an optional step: if the image service fails, the article still comes out without one rather than failing. For the exact messages, see Cover images.

"The articles feel repetitive"

Open your calendar first. Topics in the same cluster are about related things, and articles in a cluster deliberately link to each other — that's how search engines see that your site covers a subject in depth. That is different from a real duplicate.

A genuine duplicate — the same topic written twice, or two copies of one post on your site — is not intended. Clodix skips a topic that's too close to something you already have; if you still see one, write to support@clodix.ai with both article titles. Check the Topic row in SEO score and originality too.

Clodix already links every article to relevant pages on your site by itself. For a shop these are usually category pages — links to a specific product aren't added automatically, so you add them yourself in the editor:

  1. Open the article and switch to the Edit tab.
  2. Select a word and paste the address (short forms like /products/your-product work), or select it and press Ctrl+K (⌘K on a Mac).
  3. Check the Preview tab, and save.

The easiest time to do this is while the article is still a draft. If Publish articles automatically is on, articles go live without waiting; turn it off in Brand DNA → Autopilot if you want to review each one first. For an article that is already live, press Update on site after saving where your platform offers it. See Edit an article.

"I pasted text from Word or Google Docs and the formatting is gone"

The editor's text field is Markdown, not a rich-text box: formatting from other programs doesn't carry over. Use Markdown instead — **bold** for bold text and ## Heading for a heading — and see the result on the Preview tab.
