Connect Telegram
Connect a Telegram channel step by step, plus every connection error and how to fix it.
Telegram is the one social channel Clodix can post and schedule to automatically today. Here's how to connect your channel.
Step by step
- Open Social Media in the sidebar and click + Telegram.
- In Telegram, message @BotFather and send it /newbot. Follow its prompts (it asks for a name and a username for your bot), then copy the token it gives you — a long string like
123456789:AA…. - Add that bot to your channel as an administrator. In Telegram: open your channel → Administrators → Add Administrator → search for your bot by the username you gave it in step 2.
- Back in Clodix, paste the Bot token into the connect popup.
- Enter your Channel as
@yourchannel(or paste at.me/yourchannellink — either works). - Press Connect. Clodix verifies the bot can reach your channel before saving anything.
Once connected, your channel shows a Telegram ✓ chip on the Social Media page, with a Disconnect button next to it if you ever need to remove it.
Errors and how to fix them
| Message | What it means | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Enter the channel as @name or t.me/name | The Channel field isn't a valid handle | Re-type it as @yourchannel, without extra spaces or punctuation |
| Telegram rejected the bot token — copy it again from @BotFather | The token is wrong, expired, or was mistyped | Go back to @BotFather, confirm or regenerate the token, and paste it again exactly |
| Bot can't access @yourchannel — add it as a channel administrator first | The bot exists, but isn't an admin of that channel (or the channel name is wrong) | Add the bot as an administrator on the channel (step 3 above), then try connecting again |
| Couldn't reach Telegram — try again in a minute | A temporary network issue reaching Telegram's servers | Wait a moment and press Connect again — nothing was saved |
| Connection failed | A generic failure (rare) | Check your connection and try again; if it repeats, contact support |
FAQ
Can I connect a Telegram group instead of a channel?
Use a channel — that's what Clodix is built to post into. A group isn't supported the same way.
Does the bot need to be the channel owner?
No — just an administrator. You stay the owner of both the bot and the channel.
I disconnected Telegram by accident. Do I lose my scheduled posts?
A post that was already scheduled before you disconnect keeps its schedule and its Cancel option, but it can't actually post until Telegram is connected again. Reconnect with the same steps above.
Where do I find my bot token again if I lose it?
Message @BotFather, send /mybots, pick your bot, and use API Token to see or regenerate it. Regenerating invalidates the old token, so you'll need to reconnect in Clodix with the new one.
