Troubleshooting

Publishing problems

Publishing problems by symptom and cause, organized by platform — not connected, expired credentials, auto-publish failures and timeouts.

Start here if an article won't publish, or published somewhere you didn't expect.

Before you retry a timed-out publish

If a publish seemed to time out or the page didn't confirm, check your site before clicking Publish again. The request can still finish on the platform's side even after Clodix stops waiting for an answer — retrying immediately can leave two copies of the article live. Open your site (or your platform's post list) first; if the post is already there, you're done. If it isn't, retry is safe.

"Your site isn't connected for one-click publishing"

Cause: no publishing platform is connected for this site yet.

Fix: go to Settings → Publishing integrations and connect one. In the meantime, open the article, use Copy with formatting in the Export box, and paste it into your site's own editor — then come back and use Mark as published so future articles can link to it.

"Auto-publish didn't go through"

Cause: this appears when Publish articles automatically is on (Brand DNA → Autopilot) and the scheduled publish failed. If your site answered with something temporary — a timeout, a brief outage — Clodix retries automatically: four tries in total over about ten hours (roughly one, three and six hours after the first attempt). If every try fails, the article drops back to Draft, and the editor shows exactly what your site answered.

Fix:

  1. Read the quoted answer in the callout — it's your site's own error message, not a generic one.
  2. Check the connection in Settings → Publishing integrations — reconnect if it shows Not active.
  3. Once fixed, press Publish on the article yourself; auto-publish won't retry a dropped article on its own.

Credentials expired or were rotated

Symptom: a platform that used to publish fine starts failing, usually with a message naming a rejected password, token or key.

Cause: the application password, API key or access token was changed or revoked on the platform's side — often after a password reset, a security plugin update, or the integration being recreated.

Fix: go to Settings → Publishing integrations → [platform] → Manage → Disconnect, then connect again with a fresh credential. Clodix checks it live, so if the form accepts it, publishing works again. Nothing is lost while it's disconnected — articles stay as drafts until the connection is back.

Website builders (widget)Widget looks blank — but only inside the builder's own editorWebsite builders

"Could not save the connection" / "Could not disconnect"

Cause: this is on our side, not your credentials — a brief failure saving to our database rather than your platform refusing anything.

Fix: try again in a minute. If it keeps happening, contact support.

The widget shows nothing on my site

This is almost always one of two things:

  • You're looking at the builder's own editor view, not your actual published site — some builders sandbox pasted code while you're editing. Open the live site instead.
  • The article list genuinely is empty — nothing has published yet, or the connection was only just made (it can take a few minutes for the first article to appear).

See Website builders (HTML widget) for more detail.

FAQ

I published, but I don't see the article on my site. What now?

First check your site directly — the publish may have gone through even if Clodix's confirmation was slow. If it's genuinely not there, check Settings → Publishing integrations for the platform's status, and look at the specific error on the article in the editor.

Will retrying a failed publish charge me credits again?

No. Writing the article is what costs credits — republishing it to your site, including every automatic retry, is free.

My platform isn't connecting and none of this helped. What do I do?

Contact support with the exact error message Clodix showed you — it's the fastest way for us to tell what's happening.
