Troubleshooting
Search Console problems
Every Search Console connection message, what causes it and how to fix it.
Connecting Google Search Console can stop for a handful of reasons, and Clodix shows a specific message for each one. Find the message you saw below.
Messages when a connection attempt fails
| Message | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Connection cancelled. Nothing was changed. | You closed Google's consent screen before finishing, or declined it. | Try connecting again and go through to the end. |
| This Google account has no Search Console yet. | The Google account you signed in with has never added a site to Search Console. | Add your site to Search Console and verify it (about 5 minutes) — the connect window has a step-by-step guide — then sign in again. |
| Your site is in Search Console, but not verified yet. | The site exists in Search Console under this account but ownership was never confirmed. | Finish verification in Search Console (Settings → Ownership verification), then reconnect. |
| That Google account has no Search Console access to this site. | You signed in with an account that doesn't own this site in Search Console — usually because the verified property is for a different domain or subdomain. | Sign in with the Google account that owns the site in Search Console, or add and verify it under this account first. |
| Google did not return your Search Console sites. | A temporary failure fetching your property list from Google — not evidence you have no Search Console account. | Try connecting again in a minute. |
| This site has no URL to match a Search Console property. | Your Clodix site has no website address set. | Add your website address in Settings, then connect. |
If none of the lines above match exactly what you saw, the message names the next step directly — try again, and contact support if it repeats.
"No data yet" / numbers aren't updating
This is almost always the 2–3 day reporting delay both Google and Bing publish on, not a broken connection. The most recent day or two will always be missing — in your own Search Console account as well as in Clodix's Analytics. Give a brand-new connection a day before expecting the first numbers, and don't expect today or yesterday to ever be complete.
If it's been longer than a week and the numbers still stop at the same date:
- Check Settings → Search data — does it show Connected? If not, the connection never completed; see the table above.
- Check how long ago you connected — a few days of silence right after connecting is normal.
- Open Search Console directly and see whether it has recent data either — a very new site may simply not have anything yet, on either side.
Wrong Google account
Search Console only shares data with the account that owns the site there — so the connection needs two things to line up: the site verified in Search Console, and you signing in with that same account. If you manage the site under a work Google account but tried connecting with a personal one (or the other way around), that's almost always the fix: sign out, sign back in with the correct account, and connect again.
Domain vs URL-prefix properties
Search Console lets you verify either a Domain property (covers every subdomain and both http/https) or a URL-prefix property (one exact address). Clodix matches either kind to your site automatically, and it already ignores a www. prefix when comparing — so a URL-prefix property for www.yoursite.com matches a Clodix site set to the bare domain just fine, and vice versa.
If Google did return properties but none of them matched ("That Google account has no Search Console access to this site" with other sites visible in your account), the verified property is almost always for a different domain or subdomain than the one your Clodix site uses — not a www/domain-type mismatch. Double-check the exact host your Clodix site is set to in Settings → Site against what's verified in Search Console.
The "unverified app" warning
If Google shows a red "hasn't been verified" screen when you connect, that's expected and safe — click Advanced → Go to clodix.ai (unsafe) → Allow. See Connect Google Search Console for the full walkthrough.
FAQ
Do I need to reconnect Search Console periodically?
No. The connection stays active until you disconnect it yourself — there's no expiry to renew.
I disconnected by mistake — will I lose my history?
Reconnecting re-syncs going forward; it doesn't delete anything already recorded, but a gap while disconnected won't be backfilled beyond what Google's own API returns on the next sync.
My Search Console numbers and Clodix's numbers don't match exactly.
Clodix reports the same window Search Console gave us — a difference usually means you're looking at a different date range, or at Search Console's own more recent (unpublished) data that we haven't synced yet.
