Publishing integrations

Shopify

Create a Shopify app with Client ID and Client Secret and connect your store's blog to Clodix, step by step.

Clodix publishes articles straight into your Shopify store's blog. Shopify no longer hands out ready-made access keys, so you create a small app in your own Shopify developer account and give Clodix its credentials — no approval from Shopify needed, and it takes about five minutes.

Create the app

  1. Go to dev.shopify.com and open (or create) your app.
  2. In the app's settings, set:
    • App URL to https://www.clodix.ai — Shopify requires this field, but it must not point at your own store.
    • Embed app in Shopify admin — turn this off.
    • Use legacy install flow — turn this off.
  3. Under API access, click Select scopes, search for "content", and tick readcontent and writecontent. Leave Optional scopes empty.
  4. Shopify saves settings as versions. After making changes, create a new version and click Release — the old version keeps running until you do.

Install it on your store

  1. Click Install app, then choose your store.
  2. Shopify shows a permissions screen — click Install.
    • If instead you're dropped back on your store's home page with nothing happening, the new version from step 4 above wasn't released yet — go back and release it.
  3. Open the app → API credentials and copy the Client ID and Client Secret.

Connect it in Clodix

  1. Open Settings → Publishing integrations and click Shopify.
  2. Fill in:
    • Store URL — the address Shopify uses to sign you in, like mystore.myshopify.com (find it in Shopify under Settings → Domains if you're not sure — it's different from your storefront address).
    • Client ID and Client Secret — from the app you just created.
  3. Click Connect to Shopify.

What a published post looks like

  • The article is created in your store's first blog, with your title, body and meta summary, and published immediately.
  • The cover image is set as the article's image, pulled from your site's own domain — not the technical .myshopify.com address — so links between your articles stay on your real domain.
  • Editing the article later and republishing updates the same Shopify article — Clodix never creates a second copy.
  • Unpublish sets the article back to unpublished (draft) in Shopify.

FAQ

Do I need Shopify's approval to use Clodix?

No. The app lives in your own Shopify developer account and is installed only on your own store, so there's no Shopify review step.

Why can't I just paste an access token like before?

Shopify retired pre-generated access tokens for custom apps. The Client ID / Client Secret pair you create today mints a fresh token automatically every time Clodix publishes — you never need to touch it again after connecting.

Will this touch my store's theme or checkout?

No. The app's permissions are limited to reading and writing blog content (read_content, write_content) — it has no access to products, orders, themes or checkout.
