Connect Bing Webmaster Tools

Connect Bing Webmaster Tools to Clodix for faster indexing and Bing search data.

Bing Webmaster Tools is Microsoft's equivalent of Google Search Console. Connecting it gets your site indexed by Bing sooner and adds a second, real-data tab to your Analytics screen — and Bing's index also feeds DuckDuckGo, Yahoo, Copilot and ChatGPT search, so connecting it is one of the cheapest ways to be found by AI answers, not just by Bing itself.

Why connect Bing

  • Free, and takes about two minutes.
  • Bing starts crawling and indexing your new articles sooner.
  • Its index is what powers search inside Copilot and ChatGPT, and the independent engines DuckDuckGo and Yahoo — connecting Bing has a reach well beyond Bing's own market share.
  • Once connected, your Bing clicks, impressions and rankings show up in Analytics next to Google's.

Connect it

  1. Open Settings → Search data, or go to Analytics and switch to the Bing tab while nothing is connected.
  2. Clodix checks your site for a Bing verification tag first and tells you what it found — if nothing is found, open the step-by-step guide right there.
  3. If your site isn't in Bing Webmaster Tools yet:
    • Open Bing Webmaster Tools and sign in — a Microsoft, Google or Facebook account all work.
    • Add your site — fastest way: Import from Google Search Console. If you've already verified your site in Google, Bing takes it over with no extra verification step.
    • Otherwise add it manually and verify with the msvalidate.01 meta tag, the BingSiteAuth.xml file, or a DNS record.
  4. Get the API key: in Bing Webmaster Tools, open the gear icon (Settings) → API access → API Key → Generate, then copy it.
  5. Paste the key into Clodix and press Connect Bing. One key covers every site in your Bing account, so you only have to do this once even if you add more sites later.

The key is 32 hex characters and is stored encrypted.

Disconnect

Open Settings → Search data → Manage next to Bing Webmaster Tools, then Disconnect. The Bing tab on Analytics drops back to its connect screen.

FAQ

Do I need both Google Search Console and Bing?

No — they're independent. Most customers connect Google first since it's the larger search engine, then add Bing because it's free and quick. Each one only adds its own tab to Analytics.

Why doesn't Bing show an average position like Google?

Bing's top list is a trailing-window summary, not tied to the date range you've picked on Analytics — Clodix shows impressions there instead and labels the difference on screen.

I don't have Bing Webmaster Tools set up at all — where do I start?

Open Bing Webmaster Tools, sign in, and use Import from Google Search Console if your site is already verified in Google — that's the fastest route to a connected site and an API key.
